Director's Statement: Brave Rebel Army is an allegorical dark fantasy thriller that explores the trauma of sexual violence through magical realism.

Brave Rebel Army continues to follow the story of my first film of this trilogy, Brave Little Army, in which four girls - Em, Lu, K and Dee - become lifelong friends in 1984 in the aftermath of domestic violence. We now find them 10 years later, at college, where they are confronted with the threat of sexual violence.

In my films, rather than re-traumatize audiences with graphic violence, I prefer to provide audiences with an inventive, surreal lens on trauma, and the healing fantasy of processing and acting on the terror and rage it provokes.
