Director's Statement: Morning at the Farm reflects my love and respect for animals and the land. I'm the proud mother of 3 dogs and I need them just as much, if not more, than they need me. In the film, May is pulled to care for the animals on the farm out of necessity, despite her grief and loneliness. She soon finds a sense of mutual love and respect from the creatures on the farm, allowing her to recognize the joy and reciprocity of interspecies relationships. This film was made on my family farm on the prairies of Manitoba. I made it with two colleagues, who are incredible women who decided to try something new with me one beautiful Summer day. This film highlights love and exploration, because that is where it comes from.
