Director's Statement: Coming from the remote region of Saguenay Lac-Saint-Jean, where stereotypes die hard, I decided to address the difficulty men can have in showing affection. Picnic is a short film that addresses this issue with humor, showing us how people can struggle to open up to others and how they quickly become defensive when they allow themselves to appear vulnerable. It is a film that addresses the pervasive and pernicious homophobia in historically male-dominated work environments.

The film was conceived as a technical challenge, with only one take possible, among friends during a truly unique event.
